The 93rd Academy Awards happened two months later than expected but, Black History was made, Daniel Kaluuya won his first Oscar for Best Supporting Actor in the film "Judas and the Black Messiah". Mr. Kaluuya portrayed the role of Fred Hampton.

The late Chadwick Boseman was nominated for Best Actor in "Ma Rainey's Black Bottom" and Viola Davis was also nominated for Best Actress in the same film.
