Actor Jussie Smollett who plays "Jamal Lyon" on the hit television series "Empire" was allegedly assaulted in Chicago by two men who were yelling racial homophobic slurs while pouring an unknown substance on his body and beating him in the face. The two finally ran off but, not before placing a rope around his neck.

The Chicago Police are treating this incident like a hate crime, Mr. Smollett is recovering at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
